This is Bonsai, a brindle mixed-breed male who is almost two-and-a-half years old.
Bonsai had a really ruff start to life. He was tied up under a porch for the first two years of his life. He was rescued by some really kind people after his life was threatened and brought to the Burlington Humane Society during the summer of 2022.
He is a neutered, medium-sized handsome boy, who is a mix of awesomeness, energy and love.
As you can imagine, Bonsai requires a slow introduction when meeting strangers. He will need to be in a home without any other pets. No cats and no dogs, as he was never socialized. Also, he will need to be in a home where there are no young children due to jumping and nervousness around strangers.
Bonsai has a habit of jumping up on people because he was tied up for so long, without the freedom to run or walk. That meant the only way he could get attention was by jumping. He promises to keep working on his manners.
Bonsai is very loving and affectionate with the people who earn his trust. He loves to play fetch and he loves squeaky balls.
He is also a celebrity, as he was the first dog in the Nelson Pool at the first Pool Palooza for dogs in Burlington to end off the 2022 summer season.
He has enjoyed car rides with the BHS volunteers and has been living in a loving foster home since September 2022.
