Residents who want to try out a new fitness activity can do so for free this spring, thanks to a new program launched by the Burlington Downtown Business Association (BDBA) ― and a few local superheroes.
The BDBA is teaming up with the Superhero Fitness Collective for Fit in the Core: Studio Tour!, which will showcase local fitness professionals and their unique studio spaces. From strength training and physiotherapy to yoga and belly dancing, weekly classes and demonstrations will be on offer from May 7 to June 25.
"For over a decade we’ve been bringing Burlington Downtown's fitness, health and wellness sectors together with our community each week through our Fit in the Core programming,” said Brian Dean, executive director of the BDBA. “Fit in the Core 2023 promises to be the best season yet, with a hugely diverse fitness class offering.
"We’re creating an experience where attendees can socialize after their classes to get reacquainted with the small businesses that they’ve come to know and love, as well as meet some of the newer faces who have made Burlington Downtown their new home,” he added.
Dayna Lyle, BDBA's events manager added that the program allows people to discover more than just a new exercise program.
“We wanted to be able to really showcase each fitness provider’s unique offering and studio space," she said. "Also, with each studio hosting within different areas of our downtown each week, this allows participants to discover new shops, restaurants, cafes – everything Burlington Downtown has to offer!"
Program attendees are encouraged to bring a water bottle and comfortable workout gear.
