After three years of COVID shutdowns and limited activity, sport is back — and the Burlington Sport Alliance (BSA) is excited to be planning their 2023 Recognition and Awards event.

The awards night will take place June 20 at the Polish Hall (2316 Fairview St.).

BSA was launched as a not-for-profit corporation in 2003. Its focus is to promote inclusive sport and healthy play, and deliver a wide range of sport administration, education and active living programs in the community. The annual Sport Award and Recognition event was created to celebrate the achievements of Burlington’s talented athletes.

This spring, BSA will present awards to athletes, volunteers, coaches, and sport organizations and clubs who are actively representing Burlington in local, provincial, national, and international competitions.

Nominations are now open for the following categories:

  • Male and Female Athletes of the Year (Junior, Senior, Masters)
  • Parasport Athletes of the Year (male and female)
  • Special Olympics Athletes of the Year (male and female) - Dr. Frank Hayden Award
  • Official of the Year
  • Volunteer Sport Builder of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • A J Dunn Award (for years of valued service to the Burlington sporting community)

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the  BSA website and submitted to  [email protected].

The deadline for nominations is May 30, 2023.
