The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has identified the suspect in the Jan. 13 murder of a Burlington woman as Sandor Somogyi.

The 70-year-old accused is scheduled to appear in court in Milton at 9 a.m. on Jan. 26.

Halton police announced on Jan. 17 that the suspect was charged with first-degree murder.

Police responded to a report of an unconscious woman at a Regency Court apartment unit at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13. Officers located the female victim, who was determined to be deceased.

Investigation led police to arrest the suspect in relation to the incident, which police say was isolated to the apartment unit. Police say they are not looking for additional suspects, and there is no threat to public safety.
