A driver on the QEW captured a video of a man clinging to the back of a truck just after midnight on March 8.

The Burlington OPP is appealing to the public for information after a driver noticed a man clinging to the back of a truck on the QEW early this morning (March 8).

The driver took a video of the man, who appears to be standing on a rear step and hanging onto a handle on the trailer of the fast-moving truck.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said on Twitter that the incident occurred at around midnight in the westbound lanes of the QEW near Burloak Drive.

The driver of the vehicle who took the video signalled to the truck driver that something was wrong; when the driver pulled over to the shoulder the man jumped off the back of the trailer and fled up the ramp to Burloak Drive.

The OPP were called in and officers searched the area, but were unable to find the man, who is described as wearing a black jacket and grey pants.

According to Schmidt, the truck driver had loaded and stopped at the yard in Milton about half an hour earlier and didn't know when or how the man jumped on the back of the trailer.

"Certainly, a behaviour we don’t ever want to see and certainly could cause serious injuries or even deaths if there was a collision or if he fell from the trailer," Shcmidt said of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Burlington OPP.
