UPDATE: Police arrest suspect in retirement residence break-in

Halton police issued a photo of the man suspected of breaking into a unit at Burlington Gardens Retirement Home on March 1. A Hamilton resident has been charged in connection with the incident.

The Halton Regional Police Service has identified and arrested the suspect in relation to this investigation.

Gagandeep Goyal (33) of Hamilton has been charged with Break and Enter.  He was released on an Undertaking.

The Halton Regional Police Service is looking to identify a suspect responsible for a break and enter at a retirement residence in Burlington.

On March 1 at around 2 p.m., the victim was in the bedroom of her residence at the Burlington Gardens Retirement Home when she awoke to an unknown male standing in her unit. The suspect stated he was a personal support worker.  

The male gained entry through an unlocked front door. The suspect left the residence and it was determined at that time that he had stolen approximately $170 cash from a purse belonging to the victim.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • White
  • Medium height and build
  • Dark short hair
  • Wearing a grey down jacket with a hood and navy-blue scrubs
