Burlington Public Library

Come discover! Your library opens the door to an endless world of information, imagination, and entertainment. The library is free to join if you live, work, attend school, or pay property taxes in Burlington.

Getting a Burlington Public Library Card

Register for a Burlington Public Library card online or visit one of our seven branches to sign up with a staff member. You don’t need a library card to visit our spaces or attend our programs. But you will need a card to check out items from our branches or our digital collection.

More to Borrow at BPL!

Borrow items to enrich your life...without spending a dime! Take home:

  • Books
  • Puzzles
  • Bird watching kits
  • Accessible reading aids
  • Portable Wi-Fi hotspots and more!

Plus, we've got a huge collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks you can borrow from the comfort of your home!

We no longer charge daily late fines for overdue items. Existing fines were forgiven in 2021, so if you haven’t visited in a while, come on back!

Learn, Discover & Create

We’re known for our high-quality, free programs. Learn new things and make new friends by joining a book club, attending an author talk, dropping into Family Storytime, or checking out a STEAM activity. Subscribe to our eNewsletter so you don't miss out!

Our Central Branch is also home to two unique spaces where you can get creative with technology. Design and create in our MakerSpace, or bring the family to our kids DiscoverySpace for an afternoon of tinkering and play.

Or learn from home—your card provides access to dozens of premium digital resources for study support, language learning, online news, and more.

Find What You Need at the Library

The library is one of few places you can still go without spending money. We welcome customers to bring a coffee and read in one of our comfortable chairs, meet a friend to catch up, or use a desk in our study areas.

Our branches have:

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Public computers
  • Printing/copying

All BPL locations are wheelchair accessible with accessible parking, furnishings, and all-gender washrooms.

If we don’t have what you need, we'll help you find it. Staff from our Information Burlington service provide confidential support and referrals to local agencies for crisis and basic needs, government, housing, income, and employment programs.

We’re here to help you! Reach us at 905.639.3611 or through our website at bpl.on.ca/about/contact.
