Buddy the Elf spotted in Aldershot this afternoon

Buddy the Elf made a trip down from the North Pole to visit Maplehurst Public School, just as the kids were making their ways home for the holidays. 

Buddy, whose real name is Chad McMahon, appeared in his trademark green suit and yellow tights, which he says are not exactly warm. 

“It started with my family saying we have to dress as our favourite Christmas Character for Christmas,” McMahon wrote in an email to BurlingtonToday. “I ordered a very authentic suit so I thought I’d get some legs out of it and embarrass my daughter. It kind of turned into something else last year which was kind of cool.”

As he appeared at the school today, kids swarmed the classic Will Ferrell character, asking for their parents to take photos and grabbing candy canes from his bag. 

Though he did the same thing at his daughter’s school last year, he’s still hoping she was surprised. 

“I told my daughter a white lie this year and that I lent the suit out but I’m not sure if my daughter will be embarrassed this time,” McMahon says. “Once she realized everyone was having fun with it last year she lightened up. I’m just spreading a little Christmas cheer is all.”
