The local 100 Women Who Care chapter has been making a difference in Burlngton for the past 10 years - and the community is invited to join them for a special evening to mark the milestone.

The Burlington 100WWC's first meeting of 2024 takes place Wed., Jan. 17, and will feature special guests, food, drink and highlights of the charity partners they have supported over the years.

"Whether you are a current member, looking to become a member, or are intrigued about our group, you are welcome to join our celebration," says Lisa Bilodeau, facilitator for the group which now has more than 130 members.

Since 2014, 100WWC Burlington has donated more than $250,000 to boost 39 charities that serve the Burlington and Halton area. The group meets four times per year, with members donating $100 each time.

For each session, members nominate local charities to make a presentation and three are selected to make a short presentation. Members then vote for their charity of choice, and the evening's donations are directed to the organization with the most votes. That amounts to a donation of more than $10,000 for the selected charity.

Charities of choice over the past two years have included YWCA Hamilton, Black Mentorship Inc., The Angel Project, Home Suite Hope, Pflag Halton, Support House and The Darling Home for Kids, and Open Doors. Open Doors, the most recent recipient, will be presenting at the January meeting on how they have used the $11,650 that was donated in November.

The 100WWC Burlington 10th anniversary celebration and meeting takes place Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the Burlington Golf & Country Club (422 North Shore Blvd. East). Registration and social time is from 6 to 7 p.m. and the meeting is from 7 to 9 p.m.
