Cakes, cookies, canine-kisses: visit Burlington Humane for Valentine's

Get some sweets or a sweet kiss from a dog at the Burlington Humane Society

Burlington Humane Society (BHS) is holding a Valentine's Barks and Bake sale on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4  p.m.

The Humane Society, at 740 Griffin Crt., will be offering cakes, cookies and a canine kissing couch, where the animals are as sweet as the treats.

BHS is hoping people will celebrate the ones they love with a special shelter gift. They have two ways to share the love in February.

Send an e-card (on behalf of one of the shelter cats or dogs) to the one you love, or the one you admire, or even your secret crush. All names can be given or hidden through this fundraising venture for $20 donation.

BHS is promoting Angus, their long-haired, lover-of-all-cats, who needs some kisses. He is special to the humane society, and they say he should almost be on payroll for all the love he gives and the help he provides to some of the fearful cats. All he wants is kisses, so he helps them overcome their shyness. Kisses for Angus cost a $5 donation.

Go to www.BurlingtonHumane.ca to learn more. Show animals the love they deserve this Valentine's Day, the shelter staff encourage.
