Make diorama out of upcycled life scraps with BurlingtonGreen

BurlingtonGreen presents the free workshop at the Art Gallery of Burlington

Burlington residents have a chance to create a diorama using upcycled life scraps.

BurlingtonGreen is presenting a free workshop Upcycled Life Scraps Diorama on Thursday, Feb. 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Art Gallery of Burlington.

The goal is to create tiny expressive worlds made out of daily waste.

Pre-registration is required and preference is for those 55 and older, though all ages are welcome.

Participants are asked to bring gathered waste, and a sense of adventure in art making. (Small boxes will be provided)

BurlingtonGreen is hoping the workshop will stir some thought about waste, by reclaiming and reconsidering it through art making. Creating beauty or curiosity can be a way to process our relationship to the items we consume on a daily basis.

Some materials provided and participants are welcome to bring waste materials from their daily activities to be decorated, dissected, and reconstructed into tiny dioramas. We will rework these materials with printing, drawing, folding, cutting, and collage methods as we construct wild worlds within discarded small boxes.

More information for participants can be found here.

This all-ages event is part of BG’s Green Connections with Older Adults program, which is supported by the Halton Region Community Investment Fund.
