Theatre Burlington opens its 2023-2024 season in September with Lunenburg, the latest from Norm Foster.

Theatre Burlington is marking its 70th anniversary this season, and it all starts with a visit to Lunenbug, the latest in Canadian playwright Norm Foster's Maritime series.

An American widow and her best friend travel to the East Coast to visit a house she inherited from her recently deceased husband. A clash of cultures, a secret revealed and an unexpected romance will sweep audiences away in this heartwarming comedy.

Foster is a favourite of community theatre, with location playing an important role. In this case, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, becomes another character in the play

Jerrold Karch is directing the show. He says he was drawn to the production because of its “down home” feeling.

“What’s different about this Norm Foster show, is that it's a touching romantic comedy spawned by a tragic event,” says Karch.

The play features a three-person cast: Heather Hunter, Lisa Weeks and Jason Swenor are all seasoned actors from the area. Chuck Learn is the producer.

Show dates are Sept. 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30. New this season: Main Stage shows include a Saturday matinee (for Lunenbug, that will be Sept. 23).

Tickets are $25 and can be ordered at TheatreBurlington.on.ca or by calling the box office at 905-639-7700.

Season tickets are also still available; for $70 ($65 for seniors) all three main stage shows are included. As an added bonus, season ticket holders can reserve the same seat for all three.
