The Queen's Head Pub is slated to close in September, according to an announcement on social media today (July 24).

A downtown Burlington tradition is coming to an end.

The longtime owners of the Queen's Head Pub posted a notice on social media today (July 24) advising patrons that it will close on September 16.

"I am saddened, that after 20-plus years of being part of the Burlington downtown restaurant scene, due to circumstances beyond my control, we regretfully announce that we are forced to permanently close the Queen's Head Pub," wrote owner Ed Catley on Facebook.

He described the decision as "not one we had foreseen" and thanked staff and patrons for their support over the years.

The post drew heartfelt responses from many local residents on Facebook.

"I’m really sad to read this. Loved this place. Part of Burlington history," wrote user Samantha Elizabeth.

"So sad. Danced there many times, met my husband there 19 years ago," posted user Kimberly Nicole.

More to come.
