In celebration of Mental Health Week 2024, United Way Halton and Hamilton and Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Halton are screening The Human Race-Around the Bay on Monday, May 6, at the Art Gallery of Burlington.

Ted Michaels, a renowned Hamilton broadcaster, avid runner and advocate for health and wellness, will host the event.  The documentary explores the profound impact of exercise, particularly running, on mental health issues.

With a keen focus on showcasing the therapeutic benefits of physical activity, the screening promises to shed light on an increasingly recognized aspect of mental health management.

“The Human Race will show that everyone has to take care of their mental, in addition to physical, health,” says Michaels. “I'd suggest that most of us are dealing with something in our lives. What you see on the surface is not what's happening inside. This documentary will shine a light on what people are going through, and just as importantly, how to get the help they need.”

Michaels brings his wealth of experience and passion for both broadcasting and running to this project, aiming to inspire and inform audiences about the positive correlation between exercise and mental well-being.

Through captivating storytelling and compelling visuals, The Human Race-Around the Bay aims to initiate meaningful conversations surrounding mental health and encourage individuals to explore the potential of incorporating exercise into their daily routines as a form of self-care.

Thanks to the collaboration between the Canadian Mental Health Association Halton and United Way Halton & Hamilton, tickets for the screening are available at no cost. They are available on the CMHA Halton website.
