Burlington’s own Karina Gould is the special guest in the Burlington Chamber of Commerce’s first-ever Signature Speaker Series.
The MP for Burlington and leader of the government in the house of commons will speak about what the government house leader does, on Tuesday, March 19. The event will be held at the Burlington Golf and Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The leader of the government in the House of Commons is responsible for coordinating the government’s day-to-day business in the house and managing the overall legislative agenda of the government.
Gould previously served as minister of families, children and social development, as minister of international development, and as minister of democratic institutions. Gould became the first woman federal Cabinet minister to give birth while holding office; she was also the youngest female cabinet minister in Canadian history.
She is passionate about breaking down barriers for women, youth, and under-represented groups. As a lifelong Burlington resident and mother of two, Gould is a fierce advocate for her community and a strong voice for Burlington in Ottawa. She was first elected as Burlington MP in 2015.
Learn more from Gould on how priorities are set, what order bills are presented and how the house is managed at the Chamber’s newest event series. Lunch is included.
Tickets are available here. General admission is $60; $50 for chamber members.
