The sinkhole near Burlington Golf and Country Club is expected to take a month to repair.

A sinkhole on North Shore Boulevard could take up to four weeks to repair, according to city officials. The sinkhole was discovered on Friday, March 22.

Access to the area remains blocked to vehicles from both directions.

Under the ground, a steel culvert failed, letting water flow out and into the soil under the road near the Burlington Golf and Country Club near Edgewater Crescent. The fix is expected to cost $500,000 as well.

“The 47-metre long culvert is not easy to get to at a depth of 6.5 metres with a sanitary forcemain and vegetated slopes on either side of the roadway,” Scott Hamilton, director of engineering services said in a statement.

The steel culvert is set to be replaced with a concrete one, and the road will be repaved as well.

Local access to the golf club is available from Eagle Drive.
