Clutch scoring has earned Burlington’s Jenna Morais national recognition.
The fourth-year forward scored three of her team’s four goals to lead the Carleton Ravens to back-to- back wins on the weekend and earn her U Sports women’s hockey player-of-the-week honours.
Morais scored late in the second period to give her team a 1-0 lead over Montreal. That would prove to be the winning goal as Carleton held on for a 2-0 victory, snapping a four-game losing streak for its first win of the season.
The following night, with the Ravens trailing Ottawa 1-0 in the second period, Morais scored to tie the game. Morais then capitalized on a powerplay in overtime, firing home a one-timer to give Carleton its second win in as many days.
“For (Morais) to get that and get the wheels going, it's nice to have a senior player do that, step up, take some ownership and put pucks on net,” said Carleton coach Stacey Colarossi.
