Find out more about pickleball at upcoming events in Burlington.

Pickleball enthusiast Rose Locco loves spreading the word about pickleball - and the league she launched earlier this year is hosting a series of events to get more people involved with her favourite sport.

The Women’s Pickleball Club is holding a $5 drop-in session at the Haber Community Centre (Gym 5 / 6) on Tim Dobbie Drive on Sunday, July 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. Players need to bring along their paddles and balls.

Gatorade is sponsoring the event, and will be on site with free giveaways, along with some swag donated by other businesses.

Locco says there is also still plenty of room for players to sign up for pickleball in Burlington.

“We need more members for the 18+ women's league and the coed league,” she said, adding that more info is available on the Women’s Pickleball Club website and the West GTA Pickleball website.

There are also opportunities for the next generation of pickleballers to find out more about the sport, with “try if for free” sessions for kids (8-13) and youth (14-17) offered throughout July and August, and programs for both age groups planned for this fall. Check the website for details or to register.
