An organization dedicated to assisting refugees to Canada is hosting a golf tournament this summer in Burlington.

On June 22, golfers will hit the links in the second annual Golf Fore Refugees charity golf tournament at Hidden Lake Golf Club to raise support and awareness for Adam House, which has been operating since 2002.

Having nothing, knowing no one is a beginning barrier for refugee claimants, say the tournament's organizers.

"Often trauma is experienced that comes with refugees from their home country as they journey to Canada and often the trip is a lonely one, without their family."

What happens when you register to play? You enable the non-profit organization Adam House to do many things, which include:

  • Provide clean and safe living environments to new refugees
  • Support residents with legal services
  • Grant access to medical and community support services

The tournament is looking for potential partners to sponsor a hole of golf on the day of the event for $225.  Event sponsorship will include an 18x24 sign on the tee box as well as dedicated advertising space on the hole in the tournament scorebook.

"We also have sponsorship rates that include the above mentioned advertising as well as a twosome of golfers from your organization and a foursome of golfers," organizers say.

The early bird fee is $165 per golfer ($175 after the early bird) which ends on April 15.

A "long putt challenge" on one of the holes for a chance to make a 25-foot putt and win a gift card is also planned.
