July 15th, 1936 - April 12th, 2024

Passed away after a series of medical issues on April 12, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Jeanne and his sisters, Jeannie and Dorothy.

Jim was born and raised in Hamilton. In his early years as a member of top tier ball teams, Jim was an outstanding softball pitcher. Once those days were over, he turned to golf, a game he loved and a game at which he excelled for many years. He was an original member of the Mount Hope Golf Club.

Jim spent most of his 40-year working life as a millwright for Associated Spring (Wallace Barnes) in Burlington.

The cottage in Sauble Beach was Jim’s favourite home. Once he retired, he lived there from April to October. As a handyman, he took pride in its upkeep.

Jim leaves his wife Nancy, daughter Joanne and son Joel. Joanne faithfully cared for him throughout his illnesses. Jim looked forward to her regular visits and never-ending treats.

Many thanks to the following families for a lifetime of friendship and love: the Whitby Flemings, the Moores from Stoney Creek and the Lemays in Burlington. Jim treasured you all. A further thank you to the wonderful staff at Park Avenue Manor and Cama Woodlands for their tireless and compassionate care of Jim and his many needs.

A celebration of Jim’s life will occur on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the family home in Burlington. Please contact the family for the address.

Arrangements entrusted to Smith's Funeral Home
