Burlington resident flees traffic stop in Peel Region: police

Driver facing multiple charges, vehicle impounded as a result

Peel Regional Police Safer Roads Team (SRT) have arrested a Burlington resident for multiple driving offences. 

SRT officers utilize evidence-based enforcement to target aggressive and high-risk drivers within the Peel Region. SRT officers target offenders using various investigative tactics and analytics to track high-risk drivers that pose an increased risk to public safety within our community.

On Feb. 17, at 12:55 a.m., SRT officers were in the area of a known street-racing location. Officers identified a driver leaving the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the driver fled from the scene. Approximately two hours later, SRT officers located the accused at his residence in Burlington.

Chad Morrison, 24, from Burlington, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Flight From Peace Officer
  • Drive Under Suspension
  • Race a Motor Vehicle
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt
  • Use Plate Not Authorized For Motor Vehicle
  • Operate A Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit
  • Fail To Apply For Permit On Becoming Owner

Morrison was released with conditions and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Monday, March 18. His driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and his operating vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
