Halton police search for convicted human trafficker

Ryan Gentles was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to charges of human trafficking. He removed his ankle monitor and fled his Brampton home, say police.

Halton police are asking the public to be on the lookout for Ryan Gentles, who pleaded guilty to a slew of charges in connection with a 2022 human trafficking investigation.

According to a media release posted to the service's social media account on X, the 31-year-old Brampton resident had pleaded guilty to charges in Halton, including:

  • Trafficking in Persons
  • Material Benefit resulting from trafficking in persons
  • Advertising sexual services
  • Four counts of assault

The press release states that Gentles was out on bail awaiting a sentencing hearing. On Jan. 8, he removed his ankle monitor and fled the area of Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive in Brampton.

Gentles is about six feet tall and weighs 200 lbs. He has a medium build and is known to frequent the GTA, notably Eobicoke, North York and Scarborough. 

Gentles also goes by "Grizzy Gwop" and has that name tattooed on his left arm.

Police urge anyone who has come into contact with Gentles or has information about his whereabouts to contact the Halton Regional Police Service Human Trafficking Unit at 905-827-4747 ext 5331.

Anyone who sees Gentles is advised not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
