Burlington business spreads the leggings love, supports Down Syndrome Society

She's got Leggz donates $5 from each For the Cause pair sold to a different charity each month, as selected by their customers

Burlington business She’s Got Leggz is raising funds for the Canadian Down Syndrome Society.

Company CEO Donna Pinsonneault said $5 from every pair of For the Cause Leggings sold throughout the month of July will be donated to the non-profit organization.

“Let's spread the leggings love while helping support people with Down syndrome,” she said, adding that the leggings program is a collaboration project with their customers and stylists .

In December they asked everyone to nominate a charity.

"We get lots of submissions as you can imagine, so many people’s lives are affected in different ways," she said.

They choose 12 from the nominations, and those become the charities they support that  following year.

"We love reading the stories behind the personal nature and the impact these charities have had," she said. "When choosing, we look for a Canadian-wide charity as our customers and stylists are based across Canada."

And, $5 from the sale of each pair of For The Cause legging is donated to that charity that month.

"We began this program in 2019 and have donated over $18,000 to various charities since," said Pinsonneault. "The bonus to these leggings is the compounding impact they have because often our stylists will use these legging for fundraisers in their local communities and they also donate $5 from each legging. It’s great to have a national and local effect with this program. We are very proud of the powerful impact that just one pair of leggings can make."

The Burlington business, located on the North Service Road and owned by Pinsonneault, has a wide variety of clothing and accessories. For the Cause Leggings are designed in-house.

She’s Got Leggz won a Burlington Chamber of Commerce award earlier this year. The business has branched out to include tops and dresses, scarves, exercise clothing and kids clothing and blouses.

May’s non-profit For the Cause Leggings benefitted Cystic Fibrosis Canada, while April’s proceeds went to the Rick Hansen Foundation Canada.
