The Burlington Chamber of Commerce celebrated small businesses in a big way at its MEGA Business After 5 at the Burlington Holiday Inn on Oct. 19.
According to Burlington Chamber of Commerce Director of Membership and Business Development Scott Bridger, exact attendance numbers were not available, but more than 200 people registered in advance and 30 vendors signed up for booths to display their goods and services.
“It was larger than normal,” he said, referring to the Chamber’s monthly after-work networking events, which typically draw approximately 130 guests.
In addition to door prizes, refreshments and food, guests were treated to a performance by the Burlington Teen Tour Band which - like the Chamber - is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Attendees were able to purchase 50/50 draw tickets to raise money for BTTB, with the Chamber and the Burlington Hotel Association (through the Holiday Inn) matching the funds raised through ticket sales.
The two-hour drop-in networking event was part of the Chamber's BDC Small Business Week programming and included remarks by representatives from the Business Development Bank of Canada.
