Amazing support: BOWSER women set record for food bank donations

Total lifetime numbers now at more than 103,000 food items and $378,000 in cash

The Burlington Oldtimers Women Supplying Emergency Relief  (Johanne Patterson, Tangy Rattray, Anne McGraw, Christine Mazurk-Fera and Erin Kofoed, with help from Pat Broadbent and Louise Addison), set a record for donations to the Burlington Food Bank this year.

Known as the BOWSER Ladies, the group relies heavily on the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club members for support.

"It is truly amazing the support we have received on a monthly basis to support the Burlington Food Bank," a news release said. "We would also like to thank Melissa and Bryan Uba from Re/Max Realty for donating the Leafs tickets this year to help boost our donations.

"We have had a super year. There were 3,960 food items donated and $30,099 in cash donations. This has been the first year in the history of BOWSER that we have received cash donations this high in a season. We cannot thank BOHC members enough. We look forward to seeing you all at the rinks next season."

With the addition of several other BOHC contributions from divisions the total BOWSER donation increased to $31,940. This brings the lifetime totals to 103,204 items of food and $378,000 in cash donations.
