Burlington spots named to Best of Canada 2022 travel list

Local garden, patio and golf course all cited for their outstanding beauty

Travel writer Jim Byers has included a number of local beauty spots among his top travel experiences in Canada for 2022.

Byers, a former Toronto Star travel editor who now writes for numerous American and Canadian publications, gave Burlington the nod in four categories of the 2022 Jimmy Awards, which lists his best travel experiences of the year.

The Mount Nemo Golf Course's rolling greens were selected for Best Golf Photo of 2022.

The Pearle Hotel & Spa on Elizabeth Street was selected as the Best Hotel Patio, with Byers noting the "scenic views of Lake Ontario" from the Isabelle restaurant.

Just north of Burlington, Springridge Farm was cited for Best Farm Experience-Ontario with "adorable animals, slides, and other activities for kids".

He added of the Milton farm: "The fresh strawberries are deep red and delicious, and they also sell a vast array of prepared foods. We’ll take the grandkids next summer."

And the Royal Botanical Gardens were selected as the Best Garden Discovery, by the author of "Ontario Escapes: 19 Great Place to Visit Right Now".

"They’re absolutely stunning and highly recommended for anyone who loves nature and beautiful flowers," Byers said.

Finally, the stunning vistas from Mount Nemo Conservation Area were selected as the Best Southern Ontario View.

Byers also included Burlington in a post on Seven Ontario Places to Enjoy in 2023, noting: "This is a terrific getaway spot for folks in southern Ontario, with art galleries, a gorgeous new waterfront hotel, world-class gardens, great hiking and more."
