Burlington's Rotary Clubs to present prestigious accolades to individuals, companies

Named after Rotary's founder, Paul Harris Awards bestowed upon those who follow ethos of 'service above self'

The four Rotary Clubs of Burlington – Rotary Club of Burlington Central, Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore, Rotary Club of Burlington North, and Rotary Club of Burlington – join forces to recognize exceptional individuals and companies who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to community service and humanitarian endeavours.

The Paul Harris Awards, named after Rotary International's founder, are prestigious accolades bestowed upon individuals and companies who embody the organization's ethos of "service above self".

This year, the awards will be presented to the following distinguished recipients:

1. Mike Benninger: Cofounder of Tech for Teens, Mike Benninger is being recognized for his vision, ingenuity and many volunteers hours to provide teens with computers so they can continue with their education and stay socially connected.

2. Scott Johnson: President of Crossroad Refrigeration, Scott Johnson is being honoured for his remarkable contributions to the Gore Park Program, where he has dedicated his efforts to providing essential support and resources to the vulnerable members of our community.

3. Melanie Warrington: Melanie Warrington has exhibited exemplary leadership and compassion in her role as general manager of Bonnie Place, and puts in countless volunteer hours to enrich the lives of residents.

4. Anne Koopman: Chair of the Appledoorn-Burlington Committee, Anne Koopman is being honoured for her dedicated efforts in organizing and supporting initiatives that enrich our community and promote cultural exchange.

5. John Davey: As the Domestic Program Manager for Global Medic, John Davey has demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication in coordinating food relief efforts across many food relief organizations in Halton and Hamilton.

6. Ippolito Fruit and Produce: This organization is being recognized for its generous contributions to the Gore Park Program, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to improving the well-being of our community.

7. Bass Paper and Packaging: Chris and Kim Galante as individuals and owners of Bass Paper and Packaging have volunteered with many community organizations such as YMCA and Rotary and provided large financial contributions to local charities and Sheridan college.

The keynote speaker at the Paul Harris Awards ceremony is the Honourable Paddy Torsney. The event will take place on Thursday, May 16, at 7 a.m. at the Holiday Inn at 3063 South Service Rd. in Burlington.

This event will celebrate the exceptional contributions of these individuals and organizations, underscoring their profound impact on the Burlington and Hamilton community.
