Members of the Canadian Heritage Seekers metal-detecting club aim to find items of historical significance.

The Burlington Historical Society returns this month with their in-person meetings and speaker presentations.

The public is invited to join them on Monday, Sept. 11 at at Central Library, The night’s speaker will be Dennis McMullen of the Canadian Heritage Seekers.

The Canadian Heritage Seekers is a metal detecting club, established in 1980, which operates in the Niagara Region with the aim of fining buried artifacts of significant historical value.

McMullen will share stories of some of his findings, like a coin from the late 1700s found at a battle site of the War of 1812.

The Burlington Historical Society has been busy over the summer, especially with Burlington’s 150th Birthday and Heritage Week. Members will present an overview of some of these activities at the meeting.

Refreshments will be available, and attendees will get a chance to win a gift card.

The meeting takes place Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Centennial Room at Central Library, 2331 New St.

Everyone is welcome!
