Education excellence: Halton will celebrate 107 students

The Halton District School Board is proud to recognize the success of 107 students through the 40th annual Celebration of Student Excellence event at Elsie MacGill SS (1410 Bronte St S, Milton) on Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m.

Each year, one student from each HDSB elementary and secondary school is honoured for their excellence in self-improvement, enhancing the school and/or local community, citizenship, student leadership, academics, vocational studies and specialized programs or extra-curricular activities.

Students of Excellence and two guests can attend the celebration in-person. Additional friends and family are invited to celebrate virtually by viewing the livestream of the event which will be available on the HDSB website (hdsb.ca) on Thursday. A recording of the event will remain online for families to view afterward.

“Our 2024 Students of Excellence are a brilliant example of the profound learning and student leadership that is occurring across all HDSB schools,” says Amy Collard, Chair of the Halton District School Board. “Their contributions have not only enriched our schools but have left an indelible mark on our communities. Together, the HDSB community commends them for their extraordinary efforts and accomplishments.”

“As we celebrate the remarkable achievements of 107 students on the heels of Education Week, we are reminded of how a strong education positively shapes students’ futures,” adds Curtis Ennis, Director of Education for the HDSB. “Each of our Students of Excellence has exemplified inspiring leadership, citizenship and academic excellence that will undoubtedly set them on a path of continued success for years to come. It is wonderful to see our 2020-2024 Multi-Year Strategic Plan come to life through the actions and efforts of all recipients. The HDSB is very proud of your success."
