Local families can head out to the country and learn more about the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary (HEEFS) this summer.
The sanctuary, named for Esther the Wonder Pig when it started 10 years ago by co-founders Derek Walter and Steve Jenkins, has announced its tour season schedule, which launches in May. The farm is slated to move to Flamborough from its current location in August; this season’s tours will be the last at their current property in Campbellville.
HEEFS will kick things off on May 25 with self-guided tours, crafts for the kids, food vendors and a special Barnyard Buddies exhibit by guests from The Meowseum, a new organization that spreads the joy of cats through education, understanding and connection. Admission is $20 per adult; kids get in free.
Additional tour dates are planned for June and July, with special family-focused tours on June 9 and July 6. Family tours are self-directed, allowing guests to visit all areas of the sanctuary at their own pace, and include interactive activities, such as preparing dinner for the pigs or providing produce for the residents.
