The City of Burlington and Halton Region will begin a three-year construction project for Prospect Street starting in August.

The project will see road resurfacing on Prospect Street from Grahams Lane to Cumberland Avenue and the additions of new bike lanes to some three kilometres of road, as well as creating protected intersections at Brant Street and Guelph Line to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety.

A public information centre is being held on Monday, May 13, at 6 p.m. at the Burlington Student Theatre, 2131 Prospect St. to discuss the changes.

The new bike lanes will reduce Prospect Street to a three-lane road with a centre turning lane from Guelph Line to Cumberland Avenue.

Halton Region will be responsible for the following: water and waste watermains will be installed along Prospect Street from Cumberland Avenue to Stephenson Drive, on Dynes Road from Prospect Street to Woodward Avenue and all of Regency Court.

The city will also be resurfacing Legion Road, Regency Court and Dynes Road from Prospect Street to New Street.

The project is planned to be completed in three stages, with construction outlined to be finished in September 2026.
