Music lovers will be treated to a special delivery this week, as part of the Burlington 150 celebrations.
The Concert Truck, a mobile music venue that aims to make live music accessible to all, will be hitting the streets for 10 free, 30-minute public performances around town Aug. 9 to 13
Created by pianists Nick Luby and Susan Zhang, the project aims to engage diverse communities and audiences nationwide with thoughtful, timely programming, and works with arts organizations of all sizes to build a critical presence in their communities.
The Concert Truck is a 16-foot box truck and a fully functioning mobile concert hall, complete with lights, sound system, and piano. Luby and Zhang and the truck have toured across the country, partnering with arts organizations to help build their presence in the communities they serve by presenting concerts in city streets, music and arts festivals, schools, neighbourhoods, parks and beyond.
Locally, the Concert Truck performances are presented by the Burlington Performing Arts Centre and sponsored by the Burlington 150 committee.
The first performances are Wednesday (Aug. 9) at noon and 4 p.m. at Burloak Park, followed by a 7 p.m. show at Berton Park at 7 p.m.
