Poppy Campaign supports older veterans in our community

Donations directed back to organizations that support those who served and their families

Poppies bloom all over Burlington each November as Branch 60 Legion volunteers help with the annual campaign that raises money to provide immediate assistance to ex-servicemen and -women in need.

The Legion’s mission is to serve veterans, including military and RCMP members and their families, to promote Remembrance and to serve the community and Canada.

Every dollar raised during the Poppy Fund campaign goes back into the community to support hospitals, care homes, research centres, the Red Cross and Cadets. Many of these institutions treat older veterans in the community.

Thanks to the generosity of Burlington residents who donate at one of the poppy boxes or wherever a volunteer is stationed around town, the Legion is able to ensure that our veterans and their dependents are cared for and treated with the respect that they deserve. It also flows into the community at large, through its collective giving to the local hospital, and other good deeds.

And, of course, the poppies are a symbol that ensures the sacrifices of our war veterans are never forgotten.
