Burlington’s Emily Walraven has been named the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s soccer player of the week.
The second-year midfielder scored the first goal of the game in back-to-back wins by the Redeemer University Royals, a 4-1 victory over the Sheridan College Bruins and 5-0 shutout of the Lambton Lions. She also had two assists in the wins.
Against Sheridan, Walraven scored the game’s first goal late in the first half and set up Esther Dehaan for the Royals’ second goal early in the second half.
In the victory over Lambton, Walraven opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Four minutes later, she set up Leah Sloots to give the Royals a 2-0 lead. With her two goals, the King’s Christian Collegiate graduate moved into sixth all-time on Redeemer’s career goal-scoring list.
With a 2-0-1 record, Redeemer is tied for first in the OCAA West Division.
