November 26th, 1918 - January 4th, 2024

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our father, Jack Leadbeater, age 105 years, peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, Ontario on January 4th, 2024. Predeceased by his father, Walter Charles, mother Alice Young, sister Gwenneth, nephew Ronald and our mother Joan Marrion. Survived by his daughter Susan (David) Bryer, sons Jack and Douglas. Grandfather to Jeffrey (Sheri), Jennifer, Justin, Jared and Joshua. Great-grandfather to Alex, Ben, Sammy and Giada.

Dad enjoyed a passion for flying that he shared with his family, often taking us on Sunday excursions to far away locales, like “Brantford” or “Goodwood” for $150 hamburgers and $80 Cokes. Thanks dad!

Dad proudly served the RCAF during WWII, and often regaled us with stories of his adventures of the times. Dad married our mom Joan during the war in Calgary 1942, and were together for 72 years! They are now forever together again!

After the war, dad pursued his second passion of teaching, where he went on to become principal of Lakeshore, Tecumseh, Glenview and John T. Tuck schools of Burlington.

The family would like to thank Acclaim Health and the Joseph Brant Hospital staff for their kind and professional care that made dad’s last days as comfortable as possible. Special thanks to Dr. Muhn.
Dad’s wishes to be cremated has taken place and his ashes will be interned alongside his beloved wife Joan.

A “Celebration of Life” get together will be announced at a future date.

“When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” Leonardo Da Vinci

Fly free dad, we will forever keep our eyes turned skyward!

Arrangements entrusted to Smith's Funeral Home
