March 18, 1959 - April 19, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Pentland on April 19, 2024 after a long and difficult battle with stroke. He died peacefully surrounded by immediate family members and close friends. Mike will be deeply missed by his wife Frances, mother Margaret, his best friend Mark, brother Stephen (Elizabeth), niece Sarah, nephew Stephen Jr, uncle Ken (Molly), aunt Barbara (the late Murray), aunt Lois (the late William), all his cousins, and the many friends he made over the years. Mike was predeceased by father, Edward “Bud”.

Mike became an insurance broker in the late 1980s and forged many lifelong friendships with his clients. Once you met Mike, you never forgot him. He was quick-witted, smart, caring and had a remarkable memory. He loved his family deeply. Mike never suffered bullies and was very protective of women. He was passionate about motorcycles, sports cars and tennis. Most important of all though was his belief and faith in God and he never missed an opportunity to spread the Word. Mike loved to meet friends and clients at Tim’s and we know so many of you will miss having those (sometimes colourful) conversations.

The family wish to extend heartfelt gratitude to Pastor John Aberhardt, Jim Fisher and the congregation at Burlington Christian Fellowship for their support and prayers over the last few years. We also wish to thank the incredible staff at Tansley Woods who took such personal care of Mike during the short time he was there as well as the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital and Right at Home for their exceptional care, especially during Covid. In addition, we wish to thank Ontario Insurance Network for their support and understanding of the circumstances and for the management and care of Mike’s clientele during his illness.

Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 1p.m. Burial will take place at Burlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke FoundationHalton Women's Place, or a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Condolences may be offered at www.smithsfh.com

Mike, our world will never be the same without you, but we know you are finally free and at peace with our Lord and Saviour.
