Burlington man charged with firearm offences

Loaded compact Glock 43 9mm handgun was seized with nine rounds of ammunition, police say

Peel police have charged a Burlington man with firearm-related offences.

Officers from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged an 18-year-old man from Burlington with firearm-related offences. 

On Feb. 3, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Peel Police responded to a disturbance in the area of Destination and Dubonet Drives in Mississauga. The suspect had left the area upon police arrival; however, he was located a short time later and arrested with the assistance of Halton police. As a result of the investigation, a loaded compact Glock 43 9mm handgun was seized with nine rounds of ammunition.

Ahmad Farooq, an 18-year-old man from Burlington, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Utter threat to damage property
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose

He was held for a bail hearing and will attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
