The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has laid charges in connection to a robbery investigation in Oakville.

On Jan. 15, at approximately 7:30 p.m., four masked suspects committed an armed robbery at the PharmaSense Pharmacy on Westoak Trails.

The suspects entered the pharmacy armed with a handgun, assaulted multiple employees and stole a small quantity of narcotics and cash.

All suspects then fled in a stolen vehicle.

Police responded and located the suspect vehicle in the area of the pharmacy. After a short pursuit, the car came to a stop and the suspects fled on foot. A short foot chase ensued, which resulted in the arrest of all four suspects.

A handgun, determined to be a replica firearm, was recovered along with the cash and narcotics taken during the robbery. This pharmacy was using a time-delayed safe which prevented the thieves from obtaining the potent narcotics they were seeking.

As of last March, the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) requires all community pharmacies to implement the use time-delayed safes for securing narcotics. More information on that mandate can be found on the OCP website.
