The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has engaged with third-party consultant Dr. Barbara Perry, director of the Centre on Hate, Bias and Extremism, to study hate crime incidents and support those who were affected by it to ensure the safety and well-being of the Halton community.

Perry's study will incorporate an analysis of HRPS’s policy mandates, reporting mechanisms and annual reports, as well as interviews with police staff and community members who are most likely to fall victim to hate crimes.

To help better understand community perceptions of HRPS’s hate crime management, Perry invites Halton residents or those who have interacted with the HRPS with regard to bias-motivated incidents to take part in the confidential survey.

Interested individuals can complete the study from now until Dec. 2 on this website.

For more information or to leave comments regarding the survey, residents can contact Perry through email at [email protected].
