Three people have been arrested in connection with a commercial break-in in Oakville, Halton Regional Police say.

On Nov. 6 at around 10:50 p.m., officers responded to reports of three males wearing construction vests breaking into a commercial property on Speers Road.

Police were later advised that the suspects had fled the scene in a dark-coloured pickup truck that was pulling a trailer loaded with tools, according to a news release.

A short time later, patrol officers observed a vehicle matching the description near Lakeshore Road East and Ford Drive. A traffic stop was conducted and three individuals were placed under arrest.

Eric Do Rego, 39, of St. John, New Brunswick, Bryan Martinho, 29, of Thornhill, and Patrick Ruvio, 21, also of Thornhill, have been charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Trespass by Night
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Break and Enter Tools

At the time of the investigation, Martinho had already entered into a release order related to other charges, including firearm-related offences, according to police. All of these offences occurred outside of Halton Region, and both Do Rego and Ruvio had signed as his sureties, police said.

All three have all been held pending a bail hearing.

None of the newest allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
