Burlington Fill a Purse for a Sister organizers Joyce Sharkey (red sweater) and Dianne Pruitt (fifth from right) and a crew of volunteers worked at St. Christopher's church Monday morning to get the donations out in time for the holiday.

The greatest gift you can receive is not found in shops or under the Christmas tree. It is found in the hearts of others.

Thanks to your generosity, 617 purses were donated to 10 charities. They are:

  • Kerr Street Mission
  • Halton Women’s Centre
  • Halton Women’s Place
  • Shifra House
  • Nina's Place
  • Open Doors at St. Christopher’s
  • Good Shepherd
  • Mission Services
  • Interval House
  • Ellen Osler House

Gift card and monetary donations totalling $1,500 were used to complete the purses and buy baby items. Beautiful hand-knitted hats and scarves completed our list.

We are humbled by the response and thank you for your unwavering support this fifth year of giving.

The volunteers from “To Fill la  Purse for a Sister” wish you a Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year!

Joyce Sharkey, Burlington
