Q&A with Ginny & Georgia's Sara Waisglass this Saturday in Burlington

Actor will visit Laureate College for Oct. 28 event that is open to the public

Actor Sara Waisglass is coming to town for a Q&A this Saturday, and the public is invited to attend.

The event, which is scheduled for Saturday morning (Oct. 28) at Laureate College, will be an intimate setting, with Waisglass being interviewed by the school's artistic director Walter Raemisch.

Canadian TV viewers will know Waisglass from her roles on shows such as Degrassi and Ginny & Georgia, and she also stars in a new movie, Cascade, which is streaming on Prime Video.

Raemisch recently joined the staff at the private high school, which opened about a year ago in the former School Sisters of Notre Dame convent on Snake Road. He is excited to open the facility to the public for the event, and looks forward to interviewing Waisglass, whom he taught at the Claude Watson School of the Arts at Earl Haig Secondary School in Toronto.

“I thought it would be really great, because I know her,” Raemisch said, noting that the conversation will focus on what it took for Waisglass to launch her career, what art school was like and how it prepared her.

“And then she wants to tell them about auditions and then a little bit about what goes on in the industry and how do you get ready for a show and memorize the script and all that fun stuff,” Raemisch added.

The Q&A is part of a “Master Class” series Raemisch launched this fall at the school, which is looking to increase its arts programming and also to do some outreach in the local community. Earlier events included sessions with dancer and choreographer Jessie Garon, actor and musician Stephen Joffe and TV writer and producer Daniel Gold.

Raemisch is planning Master Classes through the rest of the year, and hopes local students and their families will take the opportunity to check them out. He says anyone is welcome, but they are targeted mainly at high school students. There is no cost to attend.

Laureate is also developing workshops and night school credits for all students interested in pursuing an arts career, said Raemisch. They also offer a portfolio development course to prepare students for acceptance into university or college.

“We thought it’s a good way for people to get to  know our place,” said Reamisch of the Master Class events. “Get people to see the campus and what we do here because we also offer night school and credit courses in these areas and workshops after school that there's a big interest.”

Those interested in attending Saturday’s Q&A with Sara Waisglass, which runs from 10 a.m to noon, must register on the school’s website.
