The Compassion Society of Halton says it is running 'precariously low' on all basic items

The Compassion Society of Halton has issued an urgent plea for donations of school-safe snacks.

The organization – which helps to provide food, clothing and everyday household articles to those in need across Halton Region – says that includes juice boxes, fruit cups, puddings, nut-free granola bars, jello boxes, gummy snacks, crackers and cookies.

The group said it is also running "precariously low" on all basic items including pasta, pasta sauces, canned meat and fish, canned tomatoes, canned vegetables, pancake mix, toilet paper, shampoo, body wash, menstrual hygiene products and size 6 diapers.

Donations are accepted at the Compassion Society (Mandarin/Staples Plaza) on Mondays from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

There will also be a drive-through drop off collection this Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Matthews Church on Plains Rd. E.

“We are so grateful for any of these items that you can donate,” the group said in an Instagram post.
