Fire destroys Emerald Crescent home overnight in Burlington

A home on Emerald Crescent has been destroyed by fire. Burlington Fire Department was called the house fire around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Burlington Fire Department was called the house fire around 11:30 p.m. Monday (Jan. 5).

The home, which is located near 2038 Emerald Cres., was fully on fire when firefighters arrived on scene. Some 25 personnel worked to extinguish the flames, which spread quickly.

There wasn’t anyone home at the time. Firefighters on scene said nobody was injured.

It appears the home was under renovation.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating since the fire caused significant damage, more than $500,000 it’s estimated.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
