The Hike for Carpenter Hospice takes place June 3 –  which means there’s still plenty of time to register. The walk kicks off at 9 a.m. at the hospice (2250 Parkway Dr.) and follows a 5 km route through the Mountainside neighbourhood.

An annual tradition, the Hike is a way honour the lives of loved ones, support the families and communities served by the hospice with dignity and comfort, and remember all the moments shared in their memory.

Participants can sign up as individuals, teams or corporate teams; those who can't attend on June 3 can take part by donating to a team, or registering a team and conducting a hike in their own neighbourhood, on a day that is more convenient.

The hike is a major fundraiser for the hospice, which raises more than $1.8 million annually (in addition to government funding) to support is operations.

"We are almost 20 per cent of the way to our goal, but still need your help to raise $100,000 in support of our programs and services that are offered free of charge to our community," a Carpenter House spokesperson said in a press release.
