The winter storm system the blew into Burlington on Friday evening knocked out power to several areas throughout the city - and continues to cause issues today.

According to Burlington Hydro's online outage map, crews are currently investigating the cause of an outage that started just after 11 a.m. in the rural area of Guelph Line between Mt. Nemo and Lowville. Initially 4,100 customers were without power, and electricity was expected to be restored just before 1 p.m.

Earlier today, about 615 customers in Tyandaga were in the dark, according to social media posts on Burlington Hydro's X feed. In Aldershot, high winds took down a tree, knocking out power to about 135 customers. Both areas have been restored.

Crews worked for several hours Friday evening to restore power after high winds snapped a hydro pole on Dundas Street, leaving over 1,700 Headon Road residents without power.

Burlington Hydro customers can check updated outage information on the utility's X account (fomerly Twitter) or on the Burlington Hydro outage map.
